Mehbooba for power distribution upgradeMember of Parliament and PDP president Mehbooba Mufti today directed officials of the Power Development Department (PDD) to provide hassle-free electricity to people during winter.
She was chairing the district electricity committee meeting to review the progress of Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojna (DDUGJY) in the south Kashmir districts of Anantnag, Kulgam, Pulwama and Shopian.
Mehbooba said with the advent of winter, PDD officials should beef up their technical staff and men and machinery to reach out to the people with better services. She called for judicious use of electricity by the consumers.
An official spokesman said Minister for Finance, Labour and Employment Dr Haseeb Drabu, Minister for Horticulture Abdul Rehman Veeri, the legislators of Anantnag, Pulwama, Shopian and Kulgam, Deputy Commissioners of Anantnag, Shopian, Pulwama and Kulgam and other senior PDD officials attended the meeting.
Those attending the meeting were informed that the total cost of the DDUGJY for J&K was Rs 1,249.68 crore, which included Rs 86.53 crore for electrification of 83 un-electrified villages, Rs 69.21 crore for feeder separation, Rs 638.47 crore for connecting unconnected households, Rs 96.36 crore for metering, Rs 352.12 crore for system strengthening and Rs 7.01 crore for Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojna, he said.
